The delivery itself

Policies differ the most right here. Some units welcome filming from the head of the bed, some ask for cameras down during the delivery and are happy to have them up again moments later. The provider in the room always has the final say, and we honor it instantly.

Surgical births

Operating rooms are the most restricted environment, and many hospitals limit recording during a cesarean. Families often still get the moments just before and the golden first minutes after, which film beautifully.

Recovery and fresh 48

Once you are in your postpartum room, it is your room. First visitors, first feedings, big siblings arriving: this window is nearly always open, which is why fresh 48 films exist.

Birth centers and home births

Outside hospital walls the rules are simply your rules and your midwife's comfort. These settings give a birth film the most freedom, and we love working in them.

What happens if a nurse or doctor asks you to stop filming?

Is it easier to film a home birth or birth center birth?

Generally yes. Your home is your own, and birth centers set their own family-friendly policies. Hospitals are still very workable; they just come with more structure.
